Jibe Networks is a leading provider of network aware server software for high performance distributed applications to maximize IT resources, reduce costs, and increase application performance. The Jibe Network-aware Communication Server addresses the need to send and receive high volumes of data to and from multiple end-points equally without interfering with existing applications or overloading the network. Jibe's software platform easily integrates with existing systems and guarantees the reliable and secure distribution and aggregation of mission critical data, bridging the critical gap between network and application functionality. Headquartered in San Mateo California, Jibe Networks merged with Orbital Data in February of 2006. Assignment: Advisory Board Member and assist with marketing projects as needed.

Kapow Technologies is a market leader in Mashup Serving, Feed Serving and Web Scraping software that enables companies to deploy content-intensive applications such as enterprise mashups and Web 2.0 applications at a fraction of the time and cost compared to traditional software methods. Because of its patented, unique visual scripting approach, Kapow Technologies is one of the fastest-growing software firms in the world, with more than 200 customers.
Partners such as BEA Systems, IBM and Oracle make Kapow Technologies their top choice for projects including data collection, content migration, as well as the enablement of mobile applications and service oriented architectures. Assignment: Helped write and place an article in the Business Integration Journal and assisted the CEO with introductions to select venture financing.

KnowNow, Inc. provides lightweight internet middleware for businesses to build fast, easy and cost effective solutions to transition to real-time, event-driven enterprises without disrupting existing applications or infrastructure. KnowNow solutions improve the visibility of critical business information, reduce application deployment and client maintenance costs, leverage current IT investments to incrementally add real-time capabilities, and allow organizations to easily migrate to next-generation architectures. Assignment: hired to refine both corporate and product positioning and messaging in May 2003. Assumed interim VP of Marketing role to assist with strategic business development, including corporate presentation for fund raising, and managed all product and program execution.
Ravenflow

Ravenflow Scenario is a logical upstream component of business process change, process modeling, business process management and similar initiatives. Assignment: provided strategic advisory services to assist with positioning, messaging, and communication tools over a three month time frame.

ClairMail transforms messaging into an access technology, enabling instant one-click access to applications and services from any mobile device. The ClairAccess Appliance features a transactional messaging server that sits behind the firewall to extend email, SMS, and IM as trusted paths to all internal applications and external resources. With its turnkey, full-service approach, ClairMail makes it easy for companies to mobilize user access for a fraction of the time and cost of complex alternatives that require development, client software or application changes. Founded in 2004, ClairMail is headquartered in Novato, Calif. The company is privately held and funded by Norwest Venture Partners and Outlook Ventures. Assignment: The team from Accelent served as interim VP of Marketing and interim Marcom Manager on a half-time basis to accelerate marketing programs and company launch post funding. We revised the corporate and product messages, created sales tools including presentations, data sheets, updated the website.
Kabira
Kabira is transforming real-time services by delivering high performance software systems that process enormous volumes of transactions at faster speeds and at lower cost than ever before. Powering some of the world's most sophisticated transaction-processing infrastructures in the telecommunications, financial services, and retail sectors. Kabira sets the pace for high volume transaction processing, offering the world's fastest switching software for real-time services. Kabira is a global company has been installed and widely adopted by more 70 organizations in more than 30 countries, including industry-leading brands such as Visa, AT&T, Bank of America, Vodafone and Alcatel. Assignment: Kabira retained a team from Accelent to accelerate marketing in an effort to re-position and re-launch the nine year old company. Three of us worked with Kabira as interim VP of Marketing, interim Director of Marketing, and strategic advisor. The assignment called for a complete overhaul of the messaging and positioning, product strategy, new corporate ID, website, collateral, and PR to re-launch the company.
NetScreen
NetScreen Technologies Inc. is redefining the security market by delivering innovative and scalable network security solutions that allow enterprises and carriers to cost-effectively secure their networks without sacrificing performance. NetScreen believes that IT decisions now and well into the future will be centered on security. NetScreen provides a layered security solution that is unheralded in terms of its depth and breadth, providing the protection that spans from connectivity to key mission-critical resources, with NetScreen's VPN, denial of service protection, firewall and intrusion prevention capabilities. NetScreen Technologies went public in 2001 and was then purchased by Juniper Networks in 2004. Assignment: Full time, charter interim VP of marketing for six months responsible for positioning and launching the company, distribution channels, and programs.

Reactivity, Inc. provides infrastructure to rapidly deploy secure Web services for business-critical applications, expediting their time to market. The company's flagship Reactivity XML Firewall supplies the necessary security, provisioning and operability Web services connections require, along with the comprehensive array of policy options and infrastructure integration necessary for large enterprise success. Based in the Silicon Valley, Reactivity is venture funded by Accel Partners, Austin Ventures, Maveron, and Mitchell Kapor. Assignment: Full-time interim VP of Marketing for five months in 2002 to position and launch the company in a new category of XML (Web Services) security.
Resonate
Resonate, Inc. provides solutions for leading enterprises who needed to guarantee the end-user service levels of business-critical applications while cutting operating costs. Resonate's unique user-centric approach proactively locates, diagnoses and resolves outages and performance bottlenecks before they impact end-users or the business. Resonate solutions deliver real-time, end-to-end application performance management for industry leading J2EE application environments such as IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic and Sun ONE and CRM leader Siebel. Resonate went public in 2000 and was acquired in 2002 and is once again operating as a private company. Assignment: Full-time Interim VP of Marketing for eight months to reposition and launch the company and the Resonate Commander product.

The Sun One Application Server lets customers Develop, deploy, and manage application services for a broad range of servers, clients, and devices; based on Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) technology; maximizes application reuse and developer collaboration. Assignment: Led project, in partnership with Crimson Consulting, to deliver a detailed competitive analysis of application server market including both business and technical evaluation of major players. Delivered 80 page report including recommendations to software marketing team.
Taviz
Taviz Technologies, Inc. provided adapter technology for enterprise application integration that gives companies the missing link in automating real-time integration of disparate systems and applications. Using Taviz's adapter development environment and 300+ pre-built adapters, companies could eliminate adapter coding costs, deploy adapters quickly, and easily maintain the integration effort without expensive application expertise. In 2003, Taviz merged with Insevo to provide technologies that simplify the application integration and data migration challenge for enterprises across heterogeneous systems, platforms and technologies. Assignment: Part-time interim VP of marketing for six months to reposition the company and build strategic marketing alliance with Microsoft and support co-marketing programs.
uRoam
uRoam Corporation delivered the only comprehensive solution for secure user access to network and desktop applications. For enterprise customers, the FirePassTM server was a market leading solution for web-based remote access to employees and partners. Utilizing standard web browsers with SSL security, users accessed email/file servers, intranet, desktop, legacy, and client/server applications. For small and home office customers, the InterJak Internet Service Appliance provided connectivity, firewall/VPN security, wireless security, and IT services. uRoam was acquired by F5 Networks in 2003. Assignment: Part-time interim VP of marketing for a year. Repositioned product, validated market (ran focus groups), created corp ID and launched the company.
Wakesoft
Wakesoft, Inc. delivers a software architecture solution, the Wakesoft Architecture Platform, Version 4, for building and managing service-oriented systems. Wakesoft enables teams to meet and handle their immediate project goals. Wakesoftís approach also aligns with services-oriented architecture (SOA) initiatives that many enterprises are moving toward while not sacrificing those immediate project goals. With this release, the Wakesoft Architecture Platform allows project teams to mitigate the risk of delivering Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) projects while ensuring greater services orientation, visibility and control aligned with strategic architectural goal. Wakesoft is a venture funded company headquartered in San Francisco, CA. Investors include Bluestream Ventures. Assignment: Strategic positioning and product strategy development for three months and subsequent market analysis work.

The solution significantly reduces total lifecycle cost by lowering both the cost of initial integration and ongoing costs through effective change management. The lightweight, networked WebV2 Process Coupler solution provides for non-invasive, loosely-coupled business process connectivity between workflow, Assignment: Project based work in positioning and created executive summary and helped write business plan.

Xcalia provides dynamic integration software for agile enterprises to easily create transactional composite applications. It's unique intermediation approach enables unified, real-time access to heterogeneous data and services. Intermediation is adaptive and configurable so application changes can be made quickly and cost effectively without impacting the underlying systems or infrastructure. Xcalia is ideal for high-performance business environments that must preserve transactional application capabilities while reusing information resources in a service-oriented way. Xcalia, headquartered in Paris, France, has offices in the US and Germany and over 50 enterprise customers globally. Assignment: Served as VP of Marketing from April of 2005 through December 2006 as part of a team from the Milestone Group retained to expand Xcalia's market presence in the US. Drove strategic marketing including positioning, messaging, and competitive analysis and launched a new product in Europe and US; was also involved in partner strategy and channel development. The company was purchased by Progress Software in 2008.
